Forgiveness

At the end of our Worship and Arts conference in Lima a few weeks ago, my friends from Fellowship Church very genorously gave me a reporduction carefully presented of a David Arms painting. David Arms is a selftaught painter that uses symbolism to show hope and love in his paintings. David says this about his work: "As I process the emotions of situations myself, I am allowed help and healing through the process of my work, and I hope that while others process their emotions, I could, through my work, provide for them images of hope."
That´s exactly what arts is and that is specially true for christian art, showing artist perception of things happening to him, around him and then express it in different artistic ways in a way that impacts the world and moves to emotions. David is doing this very well and the sincerity and honesty of his work can be preceived in all his art.

The painting that is already hanging in my living rooms is called "Forgiveness" David talks about this painting this way:

“Forgiveness” - The fruit (going all the way back to the garden) represents the dead weight and the heaviness of sin - the weight we carry from guilt, shame, etc.. It doesn't move. The blowing linen shows all that weight removed when the spirit moves on and through us taking all that burden of sin away. It feels weightless and free. It shows the contrast of carrying that weight and being freed of it. The linen is lifted entirely by the breeze and not carrying any of its own weight. The birds represent "us" - reminding us that relationship requires continual forgiveness.

Chuch Multimedia - A Survey

Some weeks ago we had a survey here in WorshipingArts about multimedia in Church. The results are very interesting.
38% uses PowerPoint, even though we all know that it is not the best presentation software for worship it is still widely used.
22% Still use overhead projectors, this shows us that technology has not penetrate all we would love to, there are lots of possibilirties for the future but prices and confusion on different equipments are some of the barriers to grow in this area.
19% uses easyworship, as the name clearly establish, it is the asiest program and has great funtionalities, if it is not in the first place it is because of high prices, we hope that easyworship team will soon relase a special price for LatinAmerica and a Spanish version as well.
A 15% says they just sing by memory., we dont know if that because they cant afford other technologies or maybe that is their choice, anyway, there are many churches doing this. The only concern with this is that only those who go to the church for a long time will be able to sing
Finally a 6% uses mediashout, this is an excelent program but a little more complex tom operate.
